Everything You Need to Know About Solidworks 2017 License Key

The SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API requires a license key that is only available via the SOLIDWORKS customer portal to SOLIDWORKS customers who are currently under subscription. Each user of SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API must have a license key.

Solidworks 2017 license key

Existing users must request new SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API license keys beginning with SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API 2015 FCS and renew their SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API license keys when installing any new major release of SOLIDWORKS or the SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API.

SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API checks the version of the file being accessed. If the file was created using the same or an earlier version of SOLIDWORKS than the version of SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API license key, then SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API can access the file. However, if the file was created using a later version of SOLIDWORKS than the version of the SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API license key, then SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API cannot access the file and a message is displayed informing the user that the current SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API license key is expired. For example:

When requesting or renewing a SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API license key, you are presented with a dialog containing a list of check boxes showing the categories of functionality that a SOLIDWORKS Document Manager API license key controls. You can select more than one category.

NOTE: A full SOLIDWORKS 2017 installation includes MSXML and the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012. Clients installing SOLIDWORKS Document Manager on systems without a full SOLIDWORKS installation must also install MSXML and the Visual C++ Redistributable or ensure that they have been previously installed.

For Network License users you simply need to install the2017 License manager and reactivate your SOLIDWORKS License to obtain theadditional Visualize Standard Licenses, you should be prompted to do this upon firstopening the new version of the License manager. Alternatively it can be donemanually from the License Administration tab > Modify

The Geospatial Data Act (GDA) of 2017, which was introduced earlier this year in the Senate (S.1253) and a companion bill in the House (H.R.3522), has some history. It was originally proposed in 2015 by Orrin Hatch, a Republican Senator from Utah, and sponsored by five Republicans and five Democrats. The 2015 bill consisted of 10 sections and basically codified and strengthened federal government practices relating to geospatial data. For example, it proposed that the chair of the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) be the Director of the Office Management and Budget (OMB), an agency that has statutory authority and can set standards and enforce practices for all government departments. This would provide FGDC with the authority to make other agencies follow existing common sense rules. The bill established a clear vision, assigned responsibility, provided authority and ensured oversight of Federal activities by Congress. These improvements were intended to help ensure that the U.S. is able to build a robust National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). The 2015 bill enjoyed wide support in the geospatial community throughout the U.S. and was generally viewed as a positive step forward.

At the Fall BIMForum/BuildCon conference in Dallas, BIMForum announced the 2017 release of the Level of Development (LOD) specification. The Level of Development (LOD) Specification is a reference that enables practitioners in the AEC Industry to specify with a high level of clarity the content and reliability of Building Information Models (BIMs) at various stages in the design and construction process. The 2017 specification has been released under a Creative Commons license that allows anyone to use the LOD specification non-commercially with attribution and no derivatives. In other words you can use it for free, as long as you don't sell it, that you include attribution to BIMForum and that you don't change it.

The 2017 release also includes levels and grids and five types of coordinate systems; assembly or object coordinates, local building coordinates, local campus coordinates, state plane or civil coordinates and geospatial or GIS coordinates. BIMForum is encouraging software developers to become aware of the new LOD specification in hopes that they will integrate it into design and construction software applications.
